Supporting Cast- Important?

In Film Making, Who is important? Director- He makes a film, Yes He is important. Story Writer- He writes a story for a movie, He is too important. Lead Actor- Main character of the film/ story. No doubt, He needs in that movie. But what about the supporting cast? Are they important for a movie? Why?




& The answer is Yes! They are important.




Supporting cast's importance is in its name. It gives support to the lead actor, to the story.




Supporting cast not just create a crowd in a movie but they maintain the flow of a movie which cannot be maintained by a lead actor.




Imagine a Rohit Shetty movie without any comedy character. Imagine Batman Trilogy but without Alfred. Imagine Stree without Pankaj Tripathi & his dialogue " Wo Stree hai, wo kuch bhi kar sakti hai." Imagine Mission Impossible series without Benji Dunn and Luther. Imagine Gully Boy without MC Sher or Moin.

I am sure You can not imagine this. Because Supporting cast plays so much important part in a movie. It tells you about the main character or any other main character in the movie. Sometimes it tells about the story. Sometimes he is the narrator of the story in the movie.




Remember Baby, in which Anupam Kher & Danny Dengzoppa doing conversation & in that conversation, they tell an audience how much Akshay Kumar's character is reckless as well as protective and trained.




In Bollywood, There has been a lot of change in choosing supporting cast for the last decade.
