The word IMAX is derived from the words 'Maximum Image'. It is a system of High-Resolution Cameras, Film formats & Film Projects. Graeme Ferguson, Roman Kroitor, Robert Kerr & William C. Shaw developed first IMAX cinema projection in late 1960 & early 1970 in Canada. What was there before IMAX?- 1929- Fox Grandeur- 70 mm Film Format. 1950- Cinema Scope- 35 mm Film Format. 1952- Cinerama- Multi Projector System. 1954- Vista Vision- 35 mm Film Format. IMAX cinema process increases the image resolution by using larger Film frames. To get increased image resolution 65 mm film stock passes horizontally through the IMAX camera.
