Have you watched The Oscar 2019 winner movie The Green Book? Starring Viggo Mortensen as Tony Lip, Mahershala Ali as Don Shirley, Linda Cardellini as Dolores. The movie is a biographical movie directed by Peter Farrelly.
The movie is about the flowering friendship between a negro World Class African-American pianist Don Shirley and his Italian-American driver Tony Lip. The movie is about How they went on the journey & how they interchanged their point of views to look at the world. How their friendship flowers at the end.
Some movies have great stories while in some movies characters create small stories. This movie has such well written, matured characters. The character Tony Lip is talkative, fun loving. Along with that, He was a soldier so he has some anger issues. While Don Shirley is calm, silent & focused & introvert by nature. This story is about their journey from New York to deep south & back.
The movie is set into 1962, At that time Kennedy was fighting to get all the rights to the negro Americans. The movie shows what problems a Nigro needed to face at that time. They need to follow the Green Book while travelling. The Green Book had rules about where could an African-American stay or eat while travelling. At some point, even the movie shows romance between Tony Lip and his wife Dolores. It touches to the heart.
The movie is directed so well by Peter Farrelly. He worked on small points. It does not feel like that movie is so slow. Viggo Mortensen's character keeps you entertained the whole movie. While Don Shirley tells the reality of that time on every one of his actions. Viggo has done his work very skillfully. When you see Mahershala Ali's acting It feels like he has done his homework before the movie. He is so deep in that character.
Cinematography wise The movie is well filmed. Locations selection are good enough. We did not get any continuity error while watching the movie. Dialogue Writing is done so brilliantly. Music is calm & nice.
Overall the movie deserves to be An Oscar Winner as well as worth a watch.
